Workwear for roofers

What qualities must good workwear for roofers have?

Roofers have a very physically demanding job in which they are constantly outdoors and move around a lot. ‘Roofers therefore need functional clothing that can withstand constant strain and is particularly hard-wearing,’ says Carla Cacitti, Head of Product Management and Development at the Cologne-based workwear manufacturer Bierbaum-Proenen (BP).

Because roofers are often exposed to wind and different weather conditions, workwear for roofers should always be suitable for outdoor use. Items such as a weatherproof jacket (10,000 mm water column) in combination with a warm space dyed fleece jacket or a light stretch softshell jacket (see picture on the left) for not so cold spring days offer perfect protection even in changing weather conditions.

In order to be able to work freely on roofs, scaffolding or when renovating balconies, it is also important to choose flexible and comfortable work clothing. Elastic and robust materials make everyday work easier and are also durable. Special features such as the movement pleats in the back of the BP waistband jacket, flexible inserts in the waistband and knee area of the trousers and the BP arm lift system allow unrestricted freedom of movement. Being able to move without restrictions is extremely important, especially on the roof, because anyone who is constantly annoyed by pinching work trousers or a work jacket that is too short will be unable to concentrate. This increases the risk of accidents at work - which can have fatal consequences at height.

Knee pads for comfortable working on the roof

Another major issue for roofers is working on their knees for long periods of time. Knee pockets made of hard-wearing and abrasion-resistant Cordura provide relief here: when working on their knees, the wearer can slide a knee pad into the knee pocket of the roofer's trousers with knee pad pockets - making aching knees a thing of the past.

It is just as important that roofers always have the numerous tools they work with close to hand - without them getting in the way. Several functional pockets, mobile phone pockets and indispensable hammer loops are just some of the useful details. Belt loops on the waistband trousers can also be used to attach additional work pockets.

The requirements for workwear for roofers are diverse. With the BPlus, BPerformance and BP Comfort Plus workwear collections, BP offers many solutions that specifically support roofers in their profession. Here you will find the complete BP® workwear for roofers.

Conclusion - What makes good workwear for roofers?

Good workwear for roofers must be functional, hard-wearing and suitable for outdoor use in order to fulfil the demanding requirements of the profession. Flexibility and comfort are crucial to ensure unrestricted freedom of movement on roofs.

Special features such as the BP Arfmlift system and flexible (stretch) inserts make everyday work easier and increase safety. Knee pockets and knee pads offer comfort when working on your knees. Practical pocket solutions for tool storage are just as important.

The variety of requirements for workwear for roofers is addressed in particular by the BPlus workwear collection, which is specifically tailored to the needs of this occupational group.
