What does Multinorm mean?

In the field of protective clothing and PPE, one comes across the term "multi-standard protection" again and again.  Multi-standard protection always complies with several standards that deal with working in hazardous or extreme conditions.

In principle, the individual garments can comply with only one standard or with a plurality of standards. For example, multinorm protective clothing includes nine different standards (EN 343, EN 1149-5, EN 11611, EN 11612, EN 13034-6, EN 14058, EN 14404, IEC 61482-2, EN ISO 20471).

Protective clothing – general requirements
EN ISO 13688: 2013
This standard is a reference standard for other standards. It specifies general performance requirements for ergonomics, innocuousness, size designation, ageing, tolerance, marking of protective clothing and the information to be supplied by the manufacturer together with the protective clothing. It is only used in combination with other standards containing requirements for specific protective performance. It was published in 2013 in the EU Official Journal and so supersedes the previous standard EN 340.
