WHAT WORKWEAR DO I NEED FOR WINTER?

Even when the temperatures drop and winter arrives, many of us still have to fulfil our professional obligations. But how do you stay warm in icy temperatures and at the same time remain functional in terms of workwear? This question not only concerns outdoor workers, but also office workers who have to get to work during the cold season.

In this blog post, we therefore shed light on the crucial question: "What winter workwear do I need?". As a leading manufacturer of workwear, we will be looking at different winter clothing solutions such as winter work jackets and winter high-visibility jackets in detail and showing you how to get through the cold season. We will also show you how you can defy the cold by combining clothing solutions.

WINTER WORKWEAR: IT'S ALL ABOUT THE COMBINATION

Sleet in the morning, the sun comes through in the morning and it starts to get warm, then just before the end of the working day the wind picks up and it rains: In the cold season, this is nothing out of the ordinary for tradespeople - it's just a normal working day on a construction site. "In autumn and winter, outdoor workers need to be able to rely on their workwear," says Alexander Slotnikow, who works as Product Manager Workwear at the Cologne-based manufacturer BP - Bierbaum-Proenen. "At BP, we focus on winter workwear that can be combined so that the wearers are optimally equipped in all weathers, because they deserve that."

COMBINING A WORK FLEECE JACKET WITH A THERMAL WAISTCOAT

One example of a combination that is ideal when the weather is playing roulette is a warm and breathable work fleece jacket combined with a robust thermal waistcoat. "The classic onion principle is highly recommended, especially in the transitional period. When the weather changes, wearers can quickly take off or put on a layer and are therefore always optimally prepared," recommends BP expert Alexander Slotnikow.

REACT QUICKLY TO CHANGES IN THE WEATHER

The BP® fleece jacket is warm and breathable. With its soft fleece in a space-dye look and slim fit, it has a modern and cool design that is authentic and professional. The two side pockets with zip fasteners can be used to store a lot of things. Fleece jackets are also used indoors in many professions. Especially when it gets cooler in many offices in winter or when your work involves a combination of indoor and outdoor activities. This is the case in many care professions, for example. The fleece jacket is therefore also worn a lot in the care sector.

When the weather changes and it gets colder or rains lightly, all you need to do is quickly grab a thermal waistcoat so that you can continue to concentrate on your work. This is because the BP® thermal waistcoat is water-repellent thanks to its membrane. It is equipped with a warming thermal quilted lining and a stand-up collar for when it gets really uncomfortable. Many functional details, such as the elasticated knitted wind flap at the armhole, which prevents draughts, show just how well thought-out the thermal waistcoat is. "Such details make everyday working life so much easier," says Alexander Slotnikow. "We talk a lot with the wearers to find out what is important to them and to develop customised solutions for their needs." The breast pocket and the two side pockets with zips can hold everything from mobile phones and keys to small work materials. The thermal waistcoat also looks great: the modern look with its slim silhouette and sporty quilting creates a harmonious appearance that is highly recognisable. Fashionable reflective elements are also integrated into the design.

LIGHTWEIGHT AND HARD-WEARING OUTDOOR WORKWEAR

When it's really wet, windy and cold, the BP® weather protection jacket from the BP Outdoor collection is the right choice in the "winter work jackets for men" range. The winter work jacket or weather protection jacket is extremely light yet hard-wearing. Ergonomically shaped sleeves and an arm lift system ensure greater freedom of movement. With two side pockets, an inside pocket and a breast pocket, the weather protection jacket is also tailored to the requirements of employees. This means that items can be easily stowed away at any time so that they do not get in the way of work. The pockets can each be closed with a zip so that nothing can fall out.

When it comes to weather protection, BP's DIN 343 Class 3-certified weather protection jacket offers many useful details: with a water column of over 10,000 mm, a 3-layer laminate, roll-up hood and the garment's construction with stand-up collar, taped seams and sleeve ends with wind protection, it ensures that the wearer is optimally protected when working in wet and windy conditions.

OTHER IMPORTANT WORKWEAR FOR THE WINTER

When it comes to winter work jackets for men and women, wearers are increasingly opting for winter softshell jackets. Softshell winter jackets are the perfect all-rounder, not just for the cold season but for the whole year round. On the one hand, wearers like the high wearing comfort of softshell jackets. On the other hand, they are easy to pull on over sweatshirts and ensure a pleasant temperature.

Of course, a winter softshell jacket cannot replace a proper winter jacket for temperatures well below zero, but it is an excellent solution for all applications in between. Or it can be combined with a thermal waistcoat. Then the winter softshell jacket is still very comfortable to wear even in extreme cold. One example of a smart softshell jacket is the BP® winter softshell jacket for men and women. It impresses with its warming thermal lining and high wearing comfort.

HIGH-VISIBILITY JACKET FOR THE WINTER

Wearers of high-visibility clothing also need winter work jackets. This is because they work outdoors 365 days a year and are therefore exposed to all weather extremes. Road construction companies, railway companies, energy suppliers and waste management companies rely on warm winter high-visibility clothing in accordance with EN ISO 20471.

High visibility jackets for winter should also fulfil the standards for cold protection (EN ISO 14058) and weather protection (EN 343). This is the only way to ensure that the wearer is optimally protected. Here you can find a good example of a standard-compliant high-visibility winter jacket from BP.

Work trousers for the winter

It's not just winter work jackets that are very popular in our part of the world. Winter work trousers are also popular. Most tradespeople and employees in industry or the service sector opt for conventional work trousers with a stronger fabric. These work trousers for winter are not only particularly robust, they also provide better protection against wind and cold.

Good examples of hard-wearing and cold-resistant work trousers are the work trousers from the BPlus Comfort collection and the particularly sustainable BPlus Green work trousers. These work trousers are made from an extremely robust fabric mix of cotton and polyester and can be ordered with or without knee pad pockets. And for all those who want maximum warmth even on the coldest winter days, the simple but proven tip applies: wear long pants underneath!

High visibility trousers for the winter

The same applies to high-visibility trousers as to normal work trousers. The more robust the fabric mix, the better the protection against external influences. this also applies to the cold. High-visibility bib and brace trousers are also very popular in the high-visibility sector. As they also partially enclose the upper body, high-visibility bib and brace trousers also provide good protection against the cold and bad weather conditions.
