Description of the service
The website www.bp-online.com provides comprehensive information and ordering options for workwear and personal protective equipment. The range is aimed at various sectors such as crafts, industry, healthcare, care, and gastronomy. In addition to functional and high-quality workwear, the offer also includes industry-specific solutions and individual customization options, e.g., through branding with company logos. The website enables product selection and ordering for both individuals and companies.
Status of compliance with the requirements
The website is currently not fully compliant with the technical requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 and the German Ordinance on Accessible Information Technology (BITV 2.0).
Non-accessible content
With the upcoming update to Shopware version 6.6, further improvements to accessibility are planned. The aim is to reduce existing barriers and make the site even more accessible to everyone. Even after the update, continuous improvements will be made to further enhance accessibility and usability.
The following content, for example, is not accessible as it does not comply with the harmonized standard EN 301 549:
- On some pages, the contrast between text and background is too low. | WCAG: 1.4.3
This will be revised over time. - Some pages contain images without captions. Navigating to these images with screen readers is difficult. | WCAG: 1.1.1
This will be revised over time. - Some pages contain list elements that are not part of a list. | WCAG: 1.3.1
This will be revised over time. - Some pages lack a page title. | WCAG: 2.4.2
This will be revised over time. - Some headings are either unlabeled or contain the aria-hidden attribute, making them inaccessible to screen readers. | WCAG: 1.3.1
This will be revised over time. - Some pages contain invalid ARIA attribute values. These are not recognized by screen readers and are therefore not read correctly. | WCAG: 4.1.2
This will be revised over time. - Some elements are missing required child elements. This may confuse screen reader users expecting content. | WCAG: 1.3.1
This will be revised over time. - Some elements have the aria-hidden attribute but are still focusable. These elements are thus accessible to assistive technologies, although they should be hidden. | WCAG: 4.1.2
This will be revised over time. - Many pages contain elements with duplicate ARIA IDs, which complicates navigation with screen readers. | WCAG: 4.1.2
This will be revised over time. - Product detail page, shopping cart, and checkout: Focus changes after page updates | WCAG: 3.2.1
This is standard behavior in Shopware. The adjustment is complex but will be addressed over time.
Non-accessible third-party content
In some areas of the shop, we use third-party content and functionality that is currently not fully accessible. These include, in particular:
- Integrations from payment providers such as Unzer Payment and Billie, mainly used on the following page: https://www.bp-online.com/de-de/checkout/
- Bulk order function on product detail pages
- Forms
- The B2B Suite (for business partners only, not public)
As these are primarily external or embedded contents, we have only limited influence over their accessibility. The elements of these integrations currently do not fully meet accessibility requirements. Since these are third-party solutions, some adjustments are beyond our direct control.
We are aware that this may result in barriers for individual users – for example, when using keyboard navigation or screen readers.
We are continuously working to improve the accessibility of our shop and are currently evaluating suitable alternatives for the functions mentioned above. Our goal is to provide the most accessible solutions possible in the medium to long term.
